Homestuck Rant

I do not like Homestuck. Anyone who knows me on here knows how much I loath this comic. I hate it, I hate the insane fans, and I HATE having it shoved down my throat.

Now before you get up in arms about this let me say something first.

At one time I considered reading it and I actually did read it eventually when a friend of mine, who actually is not a friend anymore, suggested I should. Well I did read it. I read a LOT of the pages. Over 1000 or so. I started out with the trolls because "it's not good until you reach them". So I started reading from there.

Edit: As of November 9th I have read the comic from the beginning... yeah still boring.  

I can say this... I didn't see what the big deal was. Most of the time the characters would sit in their houses and chat on the computer. Oh every once in awhile something would happen but it wasn't all that interesting. To be honest the only character I liked was Terezi even if she is rather crazy. The comic, to me, was rather dry, stale, and downright BORING.

So where was I? Oh yes.

So why do I hate the series so much? I hate what it does to people. It can take a rational and nice person and turn them into a foul mouthed jerk who basically thinks ACTING like a troll makes them cool.

It doesn't. It makes you out to be a dumb ass.

and randomly spouting "HONK!" does no help your case. The only people who will like you and get what you mean are other fans or geese.

Also typing in leet because that's how trolls talk isn't cool either. It's annoying and makes you look like an idiot.

So does shoving the comic down people's throats.

I've noticed when most people make a comment, art, or stamp against Homestuck people seem to ask them. 'how many pages have you read?" if you says "a few." they will basically trying FORCING you to read the rest. No, just no. If the person has no desire to read more of a comic they find boring and bland DON'T TRY SHOVING IT DOWN THEIR THROATS!

If they don't want to read it, THEY DON'T WANT TO READ IT SO LEAVE THEM ALONE!

A former friend of mine had this problem. I told her many times I had no desire to read the comic and she would constantly send me links to Homestuck related videos on youtube even though she KNEW I dd not like the series. This usually led to fights where I would tell her "Unless I specifically ASK about the series, don't talk to me about it." She would then get offended and stop talking to me for awhile.

Eventually we started talking less and less because we'd get into the same fight almost every day. She never really seemed to get it that I did not want to hear about this comic or see anything related to it. The more she pushed the less I wanted to know.

Even now when I think about it I feel angry. I know it's the thing that caused our friendship to end and I will always hold that against it.

Now before you say "Not all Homestuck fans are like that." I will say. Yes I know this. I have a few other friends in the fandom and they're not pushy about it and they understand my feelings. Usually I try not to react if they mention it because I don't want to get into more fights about it.

They can like it all they want. I just don't want it shoved on me like it's the best thing in the universe.

It really is't. To me the plot line is overused and the characters are bland and one dimensional.

I guess that's all I have to say for now.
