Another OC Stamp by lady-warrior Another OC Stamp by lady-warrior
It gets really annoying how people always scream 'SUE!" just because somebodies original Character is paired up with a Canon Character.

I mean if you look at a picture and instantly assume that, without even RESEARCHING the Original Character, that they are a Sue you have a problem.

Now if the OC winds up being paired up with a million different guys from the same universe that DOES make them a Sue but pairing them only with one and saying that is ridiculous. It might be true in some cases but it's really impolite and childish to think all original characters are like that just fr one mere pairing.

I agree on some parts but had to disgree a teensy bit. I don't want to  be too much of a canon Nazi, but some characters don't need love interests or even deserve one. Romance can be experienced to everyone, but that doesn't mean it is always perfect for them. It depends on personality and their views towards romance. Some characters don't have an interest of romance or prefer to be more independent with no need for someone special to be in their life. Also, some characters won't work well in romantic relationships or will make it one-sided. Characters that are cruel, psychopaths, sadistic or just generally treat others like trash don't deserve a love interest. I'm not saying you are wrong, but I'm just saying that romance is suitable for everybody. If you like OC X Canon, it's fine, but it isn't my cup of tea.

no,it most certainly doesn't.unless your attitude towards canon males and females is anything like cobaltpie's (sonic fandom) or mona lisa hatetards (2012 tmnt fandom).if it is then sorry, but the fc you placed as the canon character's love interest most definitely is a sue.

Sometimes it's just simply "the storyline requires them to date" and sometimes it's just "I really like/love this character, so I paired her/him with my character".  Ultimately, if it's written well it can be really cute, but at the end of the day, if they want to do it, I support them.

Sometimes it can be very well written.

I don't do this myself, but I 100% agree. Also, if it's "love at first sight" or the canon in question starts acting ooc then it might be a Sue.

I actually used to think that. But it really depends on how you pair them. If you make the canon character love your oc at first sight it might be a sue, but in many cases people ship their ocs with canon for fun and they get yelled at... Some people just don't get it.

If you over sexualize the relationship or make the canon character act out of character because of the oc, then it's a Mary Sue.

Okei I agree coz I sometimes pair my own fan charecters up witn a main character that dosnt make them a mary sue, the act of there personality makes them a mary sue not the paring if you guys all just fight about this you should stop because that is just Stupid and fangirlish

Yea! I mean if you don't spice it up..fanfics will get boring after while..As everyone will have written the same cast of cannons over and over again in same repeating plots..with OCs paired with cannons( or not and just OCs  put in for plot0 it gives new plot ideas and scenes even new in character dialog we never explored before.. "

Yet that is thing "Sues" I think is a slur to good( even badly) written female and males characters.

People have become blind now a days,  to what is good character/plot detail.

Like everyone think Twilight was a purely amazing written story..NO! The reason why it was so amazing was, the plot didn't allow you think. It had nothing we could hold,( in mental state of being..)feel weighted down by. So case in point. Good characters now a days, seen in the media are..characters and plots with allow viewers/readers not to think anymore. Our society is just getting more dumber and dumber as days go by.

While many Twilight haters are calling them sues NO!..BELLE/EDWARD/JACOB are not sues..just badly written characters, that got lucky. People are so quick to rename things, with fancy words. Why can't people just say.."your character badly written or it's  amazing" why is badly written or something with said traits (that still equle badly written) now equles up to being a Sue? That is the real problem here..

These so called Mary sue tests online need to be rewritten to.."Is your character ready to be published or not.." that's the thing..That term and character needs to be removed from registry of writing. It was made up by nerds, who wanted to create their own fandom geeky term. Which has no place here anywhere..why do we acknowledge this!? And treat this term as an offcial side note to the "Don't" in writting..

And if people are going to call Bella a sue, one more time... for being clumsy am going to scream! I am far more clumsy then she is...All these so called flaws and traits sues have are real common, and could be far worst afflictions real people have. She was badly written not a SUE!

Many see this, when seeing an OC or even an OFFICIAL character that is female(sometimes male too)..who is badly written..to even ' has her(his) moments, but still an ok character" = SUE! And of story no ifs, ands or buts..

that is how I feel.

There are many official whores characters in the media,(not that am whore shaming..but there is more to life then being a whore) bad ass, trash talking girls..And people call them amazing characters.
When say a woman who's a character who is still..a virgin and pure and is in her early 20s, and is warrior and  has to fight to save the world or something...people would call her sue..for she is virgin is playing the "innocent" card but she is bad ass..and maybe dresses trashy..well maybe she knows shes pretty wants to show off..you can dress like a tramp but still have morals..this how society has become is my point..
and what makes a good character...and that Sues (in term) are the new badly written character....its not about being self insert anymore. As all characters by authors are we write what we know and love.

Agreed; as long as you don't change the canon character and make sure there's development and flaws in the relationship, it should be fine.

the problem is that people are generally believed to be an expert on the ocs, when they have never created one

anyway most of the canon characters are mary sues
but according to them is not mary sue because it's canon (orly? XDDDD)

the term mary sue is no longer a viable or credible excuse now
and it's just a fucking excuse to criticize any character and make flaming -3-

most complaints are fangirls who do not want to see their favorite canon paired with others girls (ocs) if not is their favorite couples (generally Crack or non canon) ,or just want to see them totally gay xD

and unfortunately most of their fanfics and fan arts are more ooc, mary sueish, harem, that all mary sues for be created, but of this that never complain!!!, and always shat, whooping if you say something about their precious pairings

Very well said! My OC's are generally pretty normal. I only pair them with one guy or girl, I don't make them more powerful then the canon characters etc. The mary sue card gets so old after awhile -__-
