It's Just Sad

Why is is that people can't seem to make art/stories about same sex pairing without it spiraling down to having sex? Why can't it just involve fluffy? Like cuddling or hugging?
It doesn't make the relationships seem to be about love but about lust. Lust and love aren't the same thing and there's more to having a relationship than just screwing.
